The aromatic fumes released by the combustion of resins, roots, barks, berries, leaves, flowers or herbs, are one of the most ancient and important ritual tools in the purifying, meditative, mystical and healing experiences of all religions and cultures. All substances of vegetal origin used for this purpose are commonly known as “incense”.

Among the oldest and most famous are incense itself, which is the oleoresin secreted by plants of the Bowsellia genus, in particular Boswellia sacra, and Myrrh, a gum resin extracted from plants of the Commiphora genus.
